The Trenton Golden Hawks celebrated the start of their 2026-27 season Tuesday night with the club’s fourth annual season-ticket-holder event at Shoeless Joe’s Sports Grill.
The event gave season-ticket holders an opportunity to meet the Golden Hawks’ new coaching staff and players while enjoying dinner and spending time with the team ahead of the new season.
For Tracey Legault-Davis, the Golden Hawks’ director of business operations, the event has become an important part of starting the season.
“It is absolutely great to have the season-ticket holders out here, introduce the coaches, and have a little bit of fun mingling.”
The event gives players a chance to spend time together away from the rink, but Legault-Davis said it is just as important for the organization to show its appreciation for the fans who support the team throughout the season.
“It’s for our season-ticket holders to know that we appreciate them because we couldn’t do it without them. It’s family,” she said. “I love going around and finding out what everybody’s done this summer and where families are at. It’s just such a great community feel.”
That type of fan support is something returning forward Logan Bennett has really noticed during his time in Trenton.
“It’s something special that we definitely don’t take for granted,” Bennett said. “Not a lot of teams have this type of community. We really appreciate it.”
Head Coach Connor Armour also sees value in having his players spend time together away from the rink, particularly early in the season when a team is still coming together.
“It’s awesome for the guys,” he said. “Obviously, we’re at the start of the season where guys are still getting to know one another, and then the team-building aspect is obviously really important.”
The Golden Hawks’ roster includes players from across Ontario and the United States, making events like this an opportunity for players to get to know one another while becoming familiar with the Bay of Quinte region.
“We’ve got guys from all over the map,” Armour said. “They come from different backgrounds in life, but you get them in the same room, and they all usually have common traits. They all want to be hockey players, and they all want to be part of a winning organization.”
Throughout the season, the players and coaching staff will continue to see just how much support the Golden Hawks organization receives from the community.
“It’s incredible. It really is,” Armour said. “I don’t know if there are many places in the OJHL, let alone in Canada right now for junior A hockey, that get that type of support.”
