QUINTE WEST, ON – Thursday January 4, 2024: A decision by a third party investigator has handed down a suspension against Head Coach and General Manager Derek Smith.
The suspension will conclude on January 30, 2024.
In the duration, Director of Operations Todd Reid and Associate Coach Tyler Longo will oversee team operations.
“We cannot comment on the nature of the investigation from the fall of 2023,” says Ownership and Management. “We disagree with the investigator’s findings and we will be appealing the decision.
“The Trenton Golden Hawks staff and players have full confidence in their Coach and General Manager Derek Smith. Smith and the Trenton Golden Hawks organization have the player’s best interest at heart. We will continue to support our player’s development on and off the ice.”
