The Ontario Junior Hockey League’s (OJHL) inaugural Zach Hyman OJHL Prospects Series begins Tuesday, Nov. 4, in Trenton, ON.
The puck drops for Game 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Trenton’s Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens. Tickets for all six round-robin games in the series are $13. Children 12 and under will be admitted free of charge.

The Zach Hyman OJHL Prospects Series will shine the spotlight on the top 2008- and 2009-born players from across the 24-team league.
A preliminary list of participating prospects included more than 90 players who have been drafted by Ontario Hockey League (OHL) teams and players with NCAA Division I commitments, underscoring the depth of talent taking part in the Zach Hyman Prospects Series.
Players to watch in the series include several high-end OHL draft picks and NCAA-committed players:
- Alex Sementsov of the Newmarket Hurricanes, a first-round (18th overall) pick of the Barrie Colts in the 2025 OHL U16 Priority Selection.
- Joey Banas of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, who leads all rookies in the OJHL this season in goals (19) and points (31). The 17-year-old from Clarence Center, NY went undrafted by Ontario Hockey League teams.
- Tommy Kut of the Toronto Patriots, a third-round pick of the Kitchener Rangers in this year’s OHL U16 Priority Selection. The native of Hong Kong has played two games with the Rangers this season.
- Kieran Raynor of the Haliburton County Huskies, a second-round selection of the Peterborough Petes in this year’s OHL U16 Priority Selection.
- Buffalo goalie Owen Scott, who has a commitment to NCAA Division I Ohio State University.
- Second-year Burlington Cougars’ forward Will Johnson, a DI Lake Superior State University commitment.
- Ethan Kindree of the Georgetown Raiders, a third-round selection of the Owen Sound Attack in the 2024 OHL U16 Priority Selection.
- Tyler Hinde of the Mississauga Chargers, picked in the third round of this year’s OHL U16 Priority Selection by the Oshawa Generals.
- Brayden Lappalainen of the Leamington Flyers, a third-round pick of the Flint Firebirds in this year’s OHL U16 Priority Selection.
- Leamington teammate Reid Hayes, also a third-rounder in this year’s OHL U16 Priority Selection to the Ottawa 67’s.
- Nicholas Frasca of the Aurora Tigers, a third-round selection by Niagara in the 2024 OHL U16 Priority Selection.
- Aurora goaltender Matthew Humphries, another third-round selection by Niagara in the 2024 OHL U16 Priority Selection.
- Newmarket Hurricanes teammates Ben Bowen and Noah Gaudet, both taken by the Barrie Colts in the second round of the 2024 OHL U16 Priority Selection.
- Royden Smith, 16, a goaltender with the Wellington Dukes. He was a fifth-round pick of Kingston in the 2025 OHL U16 Priority Selection.
- Andrew Willis of the King Rebellion, who has played nine games with the Erie Otters of the OHL already this season. He was an eighth-round pick by Erie in the 2024 OHL U16 Priority Selection.
The six-game series will take place in five communities — Milton, Mississauga, Trenton, Cobourg and Brantford.

The Prospects Series will feature six teams competing in a round-robin format followed by a championship game. Selected players will play on three teams representing OJHL East and three teams representing OJHL West. Following the round robin, the top two teams will advance to the championship game at the TD Civic Centre, hosted by the OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs.
The Rules
Hockey Canada rules will apply. Scoring for the event is as follows:
3 points – outright win
2 points – overtime win
1 point – overtime loss
0 points – loss outright
Overtime: If a game is tied there will be a five-minute 3 on 3. If the game is still tied then there will be a shootout until a winner is determined.
If teams are tied at the end of the round-robin here is the tie break process that will be used to determine the 1st Seed to play in the Championship Game
(a) the most wins (including regulation and overtime). If wins are tied,
(b) best record versus the team tied with, if records are equal,
(c) goal average, the formula is: goals for plus goals against divided into the goals for, and expressed as a percent. The team with the higher percentage will be the team with the higher standing.
Where more than two teams tie, the following determinants will decide the higher standing team:
(a) the most wins (including regulation and overtime). If wins are tied,
(b) goal average as in 3 (c) above.
