The Trenton Golden Hawks have earned a bye to the semifinals of the Centennial Cup national Jr. A championship in Calgary.
The Ontario Junior Hockey League champions are off until Saturday night’s semis.
Trenton finished Group A pool play Tuesday with three wins and an overtime loss, good for nine points.
They got some help in the final game of the 10-team tournament from the Grand Prairie Storm (Alberta), who defeated the Northern Manitoba Blizzard 6-3 Wednesday. The Blizzard finished second in Group A with seven points.
The host Calgary Canucks won Group B and received the other bye to the semifinals.
Six teams remain in the hunt for the national championship.

Greater Sudbury Cubs vs. Melfort Mustangs – 6 p.m. ET
Rockland Nationals vs. Northern Manitoba Blizzard – 9:30 p.m. ET
Saturday’s semifinals are scheduled for 6 and 9:30 p.m. ET at the Max Bell Centre.
All games are livestreamed and available on a pay-per-view basis through HNLive, Hockey Canada’s official livestreaming partner, at HockeyCanada.ca/CentennialCup.
The championship game on May 18 at 7 p.m. ET will be available to TSN+ subscribers and RDS.ca in Canada through TSN and RDS.
The tournament included the host Canucks and representatives from the Alberta Junior Hockey League, Ligue de hockey junior AAA du Québec, Ontario Junior Hockey League, Superior International Junior Hockey League, Central Canada Hockey League, Manitoba Junior Hockey League, Maritime Hockey League, Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
The OJHL’s Collingwood Blues won the Centennial Cup in 2024 in Oakville.
