It was the Trenton Golden Hawks busiest and most successful week of the season, as the club won three of four games.
The Golden Hawks picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night with a 4-0 victory over the Toronto Warriors, with Hayden Jeffery making 25 saves for his first career OJHL shutout. The win was also Connor Armour’s first as head coach of the Golden Hawks.
Trenton followed that up with a 6-2 win over the Wellington Dukes on Friday. Before the game, the Golden Hawks honoured longtime Quinte West city councillor Fred Kuypers with a special pregame ceremony recognizing his years of service to the community.
The Golden Hawks then fell 8-5 to the Stouffville Spirit on Saturday before closing out the weekend with another 4-0 win over the Warriors at Scotiabank Pond on Sunday. Nolan Nicoll made 16 saves to record his first career OJHL shutout, a goaltenders who have reached the milestone within the span of a week.
The Golden Hawks scored 19 goals over the four games and now have the second-best power play in the Eastern Conference, operating at 36.7 per cent.
Owen Rivers and Sterling Poff each picked up their first career points with assists, while veteran defenceman Nico Krmpotic joined the team after being acquired from the Georgetown Raiders.
Beckett Ewart led the way offensively with eight points during the week, while Kaiden Harmon, Kale Mace and Ethan Brassard each had seven.
After a busy four-game stretch, the Golden Hawks will have a much lighter schedule this week, playing just once when they host the Warriors on Friday night.
Single-game and season tickets are available online or in person at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens box office during posted business hours.
