Reflecting on the 2024-25 Trenton Golden Hawks Season

Thank you for an amazing 2024-25 Season!

How exciting is it that this Trenton Golden Hawks franchise can, yet again, boast about a successful season!!

The Trenton Golden Hawks franchise historically has one of the best records in the OJHL and this year was no exception.  Starting with our training camp, August 17th,2024, going until our last game played May 17th, 2025.  For 273 days, we practiced for over 450 hours, played 92 games, attended numerous community events, participated in over 100 workouts, & sat on a bus for over 80 hours which resulted in WINNING OUR LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP & ended up in the semi-finals of our NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!

WOW…. THAT WAS A LOT OF WORK, BUT ALL WORTH IT!

Reflecting on the past year, we want to start by thanking the players and their families for their dedication, sacrifices, and commitment to the team.  From the beginning of the season, we asked a lot from them in order to accomplish the goal of winning the Buckland Cup and the Centennial Cup. Their trust, work ethic and comradery were legendary, and we are so proud of every moment spent working with them this season!

We want to thank the team support staff, including the Billet Families, our rink management & staff and our day-to-day event personnel.

Thank You – Billet Families for opening your homes and your hearts to our players!  Your “game day” traditions, family excursions, your exceptional cheering, and assisting with fundraisers is recognized and appreciated.  We could not be the team we are without your contributions, love and support!

Thank you – Quinte West Arena Staff and Management.  Your professionalism, flexibility and support help us to coordinate all our moving parts, which is a huge help!  Whether it is helping with a broken ice machine, switching/adding practices, cleaning up after a traveling team, enduring playoff scheduling or opening the arena so fans could cheer us on from a far; your support and partnership helped us achieve our success!

Thank you – Game Day Staff & Volunteers.  From set up to take down, selling tickets or 50/50, running the media box, ensuring fans safety, and making sure every goal & assist is correct.  We could not do it without you!  You are true fans of our team and of our community – you help us put on a premium event every game day and the fans, staff and players cannot thank you enough!

Coach Derek Smith noted “We are very proud of what this group accomplished this year, both on and off the ice. Trenton is a special place, and to be able to bring the Buckland to the amazing fans and volunteers, it’s something all these kids will remember forever.”

As you can probably guess, being a successful team and supporting our players so they can focus on their jobs and excel for our fans does not come without a cost.  Our Trenton Golden Hawks are a staple in our community and our community sponsors are the backbone of our success!

Each year, our local community digs deep to provide sponsorship to our team.  Their support and partnerships are the reason we were:

Ranked 1st or 2nd by the Gatorade CJHL Power Rankings all year.

Ended the season with a 47- 6-2-1 record and 97 points to win the Brant Snow Memorial Trophy

Excelled in the playoffs- winning the Buckland Cup for only the second time in franchise history.

Saw record attendance this year with over 25,000 fans passing through the doors to watch our Trenton Golden Hawks!

Game & Community Fundraisers that raised over $17000 for local not-for-profit agencies, donated over $10,000 in prizes and sponsorship to local agencies and minor sports groups and contributed over 300 volunteer hours!

The team had a successful run in Calgary at the Centennial Cup, representing Quinte West with pride and professionalism.  While our Fans & Volunteers attended viewing parties at home, raising over 1000 lbs. of food for our food bank and supporting the team’s spirits from a far.

Reflecting on this season, owner, Shawn Hicks stated “I would like to publicly thank the tremendous staff of the TGH team!  Derek and the coaching staff put in an incredible amount of time when we go on a deep run like this year.   The commitment and dedication all year is second to none so THANK YOU!  Tracey, Don, John and the game day staff have done an incredible job all year and I am always so proud when I enter the rink with how professional everything runs.  They deserve all the credit for the fans’ game day experience so THANK YOU!”

As we move forward into the next season’s preparations, we look forward to renewing our connections with existing sponsors, volunteers and fans; we also look forward to new relationships and new opportunities.

2024-25 season & team will go down as a legacy team that will inspire us for years to come.

THANK YOU!!

ONCE A HAWK…..ALWAYS A HAWK
