Eastern Canada Cup Lands in Trenton

Bay of Quinte Tourism, the City of Quinte West, and the Trenton Golden Hawks are thrilled to welcome some of the best Canadian Junior Hockey League players from eastern Canada to the region this week.

The 2023 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge is being held at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens November 13-15.

23 games will be played at the Quinte West Arena, between all-star teams representing teams from the host Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL), the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), the Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL), and the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL)

John McDonald is the Chair of the Host Committee.  “It is a great honour for this community, city, and the Golden Hawks to welcome the best of the best from eastern Canada.  To have Bay of Quinte Tourism, the City of Quinte West, Volunteer and Information Quinte HPE, the local hotels, restaurants, sponsors, and volunteers step up is incredible.  We cannot wait to get started.”

“The Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge is one of the largest showcase events in all of junior hockey,” says OJHL Commissioner Marty Savoy.  “To be able to partner with a community like Quinte West allows for the opportunity for all of us to deliver a great experience for not only the close to 200 elite Junior hockey players, but also the great fans in this area of Ontario,” added Savoy.

The event is used by Hockey Canada, C.I.S, N.C.A.A, and N.H.L scouts to identify players for the World Junior A Challenge, post-secondary play, and professional hockey opportunities.

Games start Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.  Each game is two-20 minute periods in length.
