Busy Weekend Ahead for the Hawks

Hawks fans, your Trenton Golden Hawks hit the road this weekend for 2 very crucial games against conference rivals,  the Lindsay Muskies, and Haliburton Huskies.

Firstly the Hawks travel to Lindsay Friday night, where they will take on the always ready, hard working, pesky Muskies.  Anytime these 2 teams get together, you can expect a physical encounter.  Lindsay is a really well coached team, and is known for their compete level, especially on home ice.  Currently Lindsay is 6-5 on the season, good for 5th place in the Eastern Conference.  Forward Simon Wang is on quite a roll with 7g – 8a = 15 points, good for a 1.36 points per game, with an amazing 5 power play goals.  In goal, Noah Kraus has a respectable 2.76 GAA, and a 4-3 record.

Puck drop Friday in Lindsay takes place at 7pm.

Then, on Saturday, your Hawks will hit the road again to take on the 2nd place Haliburton Huskies.  Haliburton is a very well structured team, that plays well at home.  Haliburton currently sits 2nd in the eastern conference with an 8-3 record, however, are 5-1 at home, and are currently riding a 6 game winning streak.  Haliburton’s offence is lead by Nathan Poole who has 21 points thus far on the early season.  Both goaltender’s have had a great start also, so it will be interesting to see who gets the start in goal, Nadon or Votary.

Puck drop Saturday in Haliburton is an early one, 4pm!

As for your Trenton Golden Hawks, who were recently ranked at the 5th spot in the nation, they know this will be a challenging weekend having to face 2 very good hockey teams, in a quick turn around, and they are looking forward to the challenge.  Currently your 10-1 Hawks sit atop the Conference, and really have been lead by a committee of strong forwards, solid defense and very consistent goaltending.  Matthew Souliere and David Fournier lead the way with 18 points a piece. In goal Brady Spry is sporting an impressive 8-1 record with a 2.31 GAA.  Backup goalie Sawyer Russell is coming off of a very strong performance in St. Mike’s where he was named the Shoeless Joe’s player of the game.  Russell has a perfect 2-0 record with a 2.50 GAA.

Hawks fans, we are asking you to come and join us on the road for what will be 2 great games, and cheer loudly for your Hawks!
