Since his arrival in Quinte West with the Trenton Golden Hawks in November 2022, he has made an impact. His offense, leadership, community advocacy, and kindness with fans have not gone unnoticed by teammates, staff, and community members.
This off-season has helped to solidify his next five years as well. Adam O’Marra has announced his NCAA commitment to Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Trenton Head Coach and General Manager Derek Smith says, “This is a great accomplishment. He makes his linemates better and he has a very high skill set. Our goal for this coming year will be to get the most out of him, to get his game at the next level. Going from junior to school is a large jump and we will do everything we can to have him flourish. Adam will be one of our leaders on and off the ice.”

Adam O’Marra says, “I am thrilled by making my commitment. I will be looking to major in finance or economics or business. That was one of the reasons that I chose the OJHL was the ability to move onto the NCAA. The league has an educational priority.” O’Marra continued, “Since the league plays fewer games than other leagues, it provides an opportunity to get bigger, faster, stronger and improve my 200-foot game.”
“Going into my final season this fall in Trenton is going to be important. We have a new coaching staff, and I am excited with the systems and the type of hockey that is being laid out. Being a 20-year-old and one of the returning players means I want to be a good teammate, someone the younger players can look up to, while becoming more complete myself.”
When asked why Robert Morris University was the choice for school? “The school and program checked all the boxes. They are coming back in a big way. My family and I trust the coaching staff, it is not terribly far from home, the reputation is strong, and we loved the campus. Although I am excited to get started in college, my focus will be in Trenton this fall. We have unfinished business from last season and our goal is a national championship.”
